Professor Matthew Barnett
Director, ARC Training Centre, mineAlloy
Prof Matthew Barnett is the Director of the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at Deakin University, and Director of the ARC mineAlloy training centre, dedicated to Alloy Innovation for Mining Efficiency. mineAlloy is a close partnership between universities and industry, to provide unprecedented training opportunities for young researchers and to make emerging materials and manufacturing processes available to Australian manufacturers. Prof Barnett has made significant technical contributions to steel technology, light metals, as well as materials characterisation and alloy functionality. His area of research involves designing the microstructure of new metal alloys to enhance their mechanical properties and ease the manufacturing processes.
